Jane's Weight Loss Journey with GLP-1 & Metavo

This blog describes a Metavo's personal experience or weight loss journey from an interview. Results will vary on each individual's health condition, activities, and nutrition plans. Metavo is not intended to diagnose or treat any diseases. Please consult with your doctor before trying a new supplement or weight loss regime.

Before the Journey

Can you share a bit about your life before starting your weight loss journey?

Before starting my weight loss journey, I had struggled with maintaining a healthy weight for the majority of my life. I had gone up and down the scale a million times, tried dozens of different diets, and it all failed because none of it was sustainable and none of it actually helped me to form better habits and decisions for my overall health. I’ve had high blood pressure (runs on my dad’s side of the family) since I was 19 — uncontrolled even on medication — unstable cholesterol levels, and decreased mobility due to pain in my joints from excess weight. On top of working at a desk 8 hours a day and constantly feeling fatigued, I felt like I was stuck and couldn’t reach my health goals even if I tried.

What motivated you to begin this journey?

While my existing medical conditions were a big motivator, I would say the biggest one was my mobility. In the past, I had always been active. I danced for years, I was an athlete, I loved to move my body in some way, shape, or form. Then suddenly, I realized I couldn’t move anymore to the best of my ability because my joints and feet hurt, especially when I exercised. On top of that, I was overeating like crazy because I had a terrible relationship with food, so I felt like I couldn’t do anything about it.

Had you tried other weight loss methods before? What were those experiences like?

Yes! I had tried everything; keto, Atkins, Weight Watchers, intermittent fasting, OMAD, low-cal, high-carb low-fat, high-fat low-carb, Noom, Nutrisystem, Slimfast, everything you can think of, I tried. They were soooo miserable. I felt tired all the time, constantly starving, always thinking about food. Eventually (after about 1-2 weeks) I’d just binge out and fall back into old habits. It was not sustainable whatsoever.

How did you first learn about Semaglutide and Metavo?

My fiancé actually first started taking Semaglutide medications shortly after his gastric sleeve surgery to help aid his own weight loss, so I was privy to what it was and how it worked. I just had never inquired about it because I never thought I met the qualifications for it or needed it for that matter. At a certain point, my fiancé was very aware of my frustrations with my weight and lack of mobility, and suggested I reach out to a bariatric doctor who could help me. I took the leap and scheduled an appointment, and it was only up from there (or down, rather!) when I started taking Ozempic in November 2023. I’ve since lost about 20+ lbs and that’s when Metavo reached out to me to try their supplements.

I actually used to be a freelance writer at a health and wellness company that sold weight loss supplements, so I was very familiar with all of them — but Metavo seemed different. They also popped into my life at a point where I was considering adding health supplements into my health regimen, so they couldn’t have contacted me at a better time.

What were your initial thoughts and feelings about trying Metavo in conjunction with Semaglutide?

I was excited!! Metavo was the first additional health supplement I added to my health regimen and I was eager to see how it could aid in my overall health, increase my energy naturally, and see if any of the products could become a serious and vital part of my regular routine.

Starting the Journey

Describe your first few weeks of incorporating Metavo into your routine.

My body adapts to new things pretty quickly, so I felt the effects within the first week. I could definitely feel more energized throughout the weeks I was taking the supplements, as well as fuller for longer and not craving a lot of junky foods. This really helped add to the decrease of “food noise” that semaglutide meds help with, so it felt like a huge boost!

What changes did you make to your diet and lifestyle?

With the decrease in food noise and increase in energy, I found myself also making healthier choices and habits surrounding my nutrition, which has been one of the biggest challenges for me in recent years. The Meal replacement powder, in particular, has become a vital part of my routine as I have incorporated it into a daily fruit/protein smoothie, which I had been slacking on previously — it’s become a delicious and helpful way of getting my protein in while also incorporating more nutritious fruits and veggies into my diet! And that’s just one example. :)

What challenges or obstacles did you face early on, and how did you overcome them?

Early on when just beginning to add the supplement into my routine, my biggest obstacle was actually remembering to take it, namely the weight loss/metabolism capsules. Since I had to take anywhere from 2-3 of them a few times a day, I found myself often struggling to remember to take them in addition to my meals or meal replacements. To overcome this, I started small — I started off taking them at least once a day and correlating it with my protein shake each day (using the Metavo meal replacement powder). When I began correlating the capsules with my shake, it was easier to remember, since it was all Metavo products!

How did you measure your progress (e.g. calorie tracker apps, continuous glucose monitor or other fitness devices/wearables), and what kept you motivated during this period?

I used MyFitnessPal to track calories and protein intake, as well as my Apple Watch to track fitness.

During the Journey

Can you share a pivotal moment or milestone in your journey where you felt a significant change?

The most pivotal moment in my journey was recently, actually — when I had finally hit the 20-lb. mark, I noticed my joints and feet didn’t hurt as much, so I decided to start incorporating some movement back into my routine. I renewed my dance class membership and have been dancing every week ever since with no complications or pain. It feels SO good to be able to move again without being in pain and no limited mobility.

How did Metavo, in combination with semaglutide, impact your weight loss compared to previous methods you've tried?

With the combination of energy and feeling fuller longer with Metavo, I felt like I was able to continue my fitness regimen after the first day because I had the energy to. Compared to when I first added Metavo to my routine (in combination with semaglutide), I lost an additional 2 lbs in a month (I was on a plateau at the time and FINALLY saw a bit of scale movement) but what is most significant to me is the muscle I’ve been able to build. This is crucial since the loss of muscle mass is common when taking semaglutide due to eating less. Clothes are also fitting better and I’m having to buy/fit into smaller sizes, so we’re celebrating the non-scale victories!

Were there any unexpected benefits or side effects you experienced while using the supplement?

Definitely the added energy. Usually when I’ve taken these kinds of products that promote clean energy in the past, I haven’t seen much of a change. As someone who struggles with chronic fatigue, this was very noticeable and a game changer!

How did your goals or perspective change as you progressed in your journey?

My goals definitely became more nutrition-based throughout this journey. It started with weight loss (and, of course, that’s still the ultimate goal), but this made me put a larger focus and importance on nutrition, my food choices, and forming healthier overall habits.

After the Journey

What results have you achieved since starting your weight loss journey with Metavo?

I’ve achieved a new perspective on overall health and wellness, as well as incorporating fitness goals into the mix, which is what prompted my entire weight loss journey from the get-go! Semaglutide might’ve helped me jumpstart that journey, but Metavo actually helped put it all into action.

How has achieving your weight loss goal impacted your life, health, and well-being?

I feel more like myself again. When you’re at your highest weight and you feel stuck, you feel defeated. It’s depressing, isolating, you don’t even want to get out of bed some days. Now, I feel like I can do the things I enjoy again. I can go into the city for a weekend with my friends and not have to worry about walking more than 20 minutes because I can actually walk. I don’t feel anxious when going out to eat with my fiancé because I can trust my body to know when we’re finished eating. It truly is an incredible and life-changing feeling — a feeling that I think a lot of us, if not most, take for granted.

What advice would you give to others who are starting their weight loss journey with semaglutide and Metavo?

I would say don’t expect a miracle or overnight thing. Semaglutide and health supplements like Metavo can certainly help, but patience and consistency are both key! Keep up with it every day, and you WILL see the changes.

Looking back, is there anything you would have done differently?

That’s a good question, and honestly, I don’t think so. Without the choices I’ve made, I wouldn’t be where I am now. Not only do I feel great physically, I also feel great mentally. Happiness and being generally content with life is another crucial overarching aspect of health that is often forgotten about, so I’m very happy with the choices I’ve made that has gotten me to such a great point in my life. I’m extremely grateful. :)

How do you plan to maintain your weight loss and continue your health journey? Specifically, do you plan on continuing GLP-1 medication and our supplement or one or the other?

I plan on continuing both GLP-1 and Metavo! It’s become an essential part of my nutrition and overall health regimen. I still have a long way to go, but I can comfortably say I definitely have the right tools to help get me to where I want to be.

Reflection and Advice

What has been the most rewarding part of your journey?

Learning. I always say I’m a student first, and no other “diet” or weight loss regimen has really taught me anything I didn’t know before. With this current journey, I have learned so much about myself, including the fact that I am much stronger than I give myself credit for. Losing weight is HARD, but it doesn’t have to be impossible, and it’s okay to ask for help. I think those are all crucial aspects of the learning journey that comes with losing weight and getting healthy.

How have friends and family reacted to your transformation?

It was pretty jarring at first, to be honest, but in a good way! I have gone through periods of weight loss in the past and seen the same reaction, but that was many years ago. This is the first time in a while and I wasn’t expecting any reactions so soon, but back when I lost my first 5-10 lbs, it was immediately noticeable, and my friends and family were sure to let me know my efforts had not gone unnoticed and they were happy I was seeing the results I was seeking. It’s also a great opportunity to teach them about GLP-1 medication, too!

In what ways has Metavo, alongside Semaglutide, played a role in your success story?

It’s played a large role in really helping to kickstart incorporating movement and a larger focus on food habits. When I first started my semaglutide journey, I wasn’t really focusing on making any huge changes — just adjusting to things. Metavo really helped to reshape how I approach my weight loss journey in combination with Semaglutide, and I’ll be forever grateful for that, so I can start prioritizing my internal health in addition to my external health.
